Friday, Australian bookmaker Tabcorp Holdings Ltd. (ASX:TAH) announced it and its broadcast subsidiary, Sky Racing, will expand both televised and betting coverage of U.K. jumps racing. According to a company press release the expansion comes “following a positive response from (Tabcorp’s) customers.”

Tabcorp said it will begin its extended coverage by offering tote odds, as well as fixed odds at all Victorian locations and selected New South Wales locations, for Newbury Racecourse’s Totesport Super Saturday, Feb. 13. It then plans to continue the expansion with coverage of jumps meetings at the Ascot and Kempton Park racecourses Feb. 20 and 27, respectively.

The bookmaker said the focal point of its jumps racing offerings will be its coverage of the Cheltenham Festival March 16-19 and the Aintree Grand National Festival April 8-11. The Grand National, which offered 900000 pounds in prize money in 2009, is among the U.K.’s most prestigious National Hunt events.

“We’ve received good feedback from Sky Racing viewers and TAB punters for our U.K. jumps-racing coverage,” Ian Mackay, Tabcorp’s general manager of wagering and marketing, said. “U.K. jumps racing offers something quite different for our customers, and what we are showcasing in coming weeks and months is jumps racing at the elite level.”

After news of the expansion shares in Tabcorp rose 0.74 percent on the Australian Securities Exchange to close at 6.83 Australian dollars.
