WHERE TO PLAY

VIDEO POKER

VIDEO POKER PAYOFF SCHEDULES

There’s a wide range of video poker games, each rewarding different card combinations with different payouts. This is why you’ll always find a payoff schedule proudly displayed on the machine. For example, if you want to know how much a specific video poker machine pays back when you hit a royal flush, you simply look up the ‘royal flush’ row in the payoff schedule.

But pay attention to this: If you play the same game on two different machines, you’re not guaranteed the same payouts! Just because you’re playing Jokers Wild video poker, for instance, doesn’t automatically mean that you’ll be enjoying the same payouts offered by a neighboring Jokers Wild video poker machine. This is why the best thing to do is to look for Full Pay machines.

Full Pay Machines

Full Pay machines guarantee the maximum payout percentage for their game type. This doesn’t mean that you won’t find machines that pay out more than full pay machines - rather, full pay machines should be viewed as the industry standard maximum payout for a specific game. Below we will display the payoff schedules for some of the more popular video poker games such as Jacks or Better and Jokers Wild video poker. Visit our Odds section for the Deuces Wild video poker payoff schedule and for a detailed explanation of video poker odds.

IMPORTANT: In order to lower the house edge and achieve the highest possible payback percentage you must play for maximum credits and applying perfect strategy.

Jacks or Better Video Poker

‘Jacks or Better’ is the most popular Video Poker game. Payouts start at a pair of jacks or better. Below is the Full Pay version of the Jacks or Better Video Poker payoff schedule. You’ll notice that using a single credit, a full house pays 9 and a flush pays 6, which is why this game is also known as 9/6 Jacks or Better Video Poker. The theoretical return for Full Pay Jacks or Better video poker is 99.5, when played with perfect strategy and using max credits.

Double Bonus Video Poker

‘Bonus Poker’ is a general term for video poker games based on Jacks or Better which give a higher return for ‘four-of-a-kind’ hands. One of these video bonus poker games is the popular Double Bonus Video Poker game, which offers an inflated payout for a hand of four aces! The typical payout for four aces would be:

In terms of odds, if you look for the Full Play version you can find Double Bonus Video Poker machines with a theoretical 100.2% return when played with perfect strategy and maximum credits. There are many other variations and combinations, such as the Double Double Bonus, offering different payouts for different four-of-a-kind hands.

Jokers Wild Video Poker

‘Jokers Wild Video Poker’ is played with a standard 52-card deck – plus an additional joker which serves as a wild card. The joker may substitute for any card in the deck, allowing great flexibility for creating a winning hand. In Jokers Wild video poker, five-of-a-kind is a possible hand, and is the second-highest paying hand – right after a natural royal flush. Payouts start at Kings or better. Multistrike Video Poker

Multistrike Video Poker’ (A.K.A. Multi Video Poker, or Multi-Strike Poker) is the game of video poker multiplied by 4, with a chance for payouts multiplied by 8! This is how it works: you get 4 levels of 5 cards, each paying out double the amount of the previous level. Each level represents a new game which is independent from the previous one. The first level in multistrike video poker pays based on the payoff schedule of the game. The second level pays double that amount (x2), the third quadruples your winnings (x4) and the fourth milti level pays out 8 times the regular payouts! The catch is that in order to advance to the next level and enjoy the great payouts you must win a hand – any hand – on the previous level.

Multistrike video poker machines are based on common video poker games, such as Jacks or Better and Jokers Wild. When you place your bet, you’re betting on all 4 levels in advance, so if you don’t win a hand and advance to the next level, you’ve lost that portion of the bet without even drawing any cards. But when you do reach the fourth and final level of multistrike video poker, you enjoy amazing payouts that make up for the other losses.

Texas Holdem Video Poker – The Next Logical Step?

This one is still an experimental variation of video poker: Texas Holdem Video Poker. Someone came up with the idea of combining video poker with Texas Hold ‘em instead of the usual 5-Card Draw, hoping this game will ride the soaring popularity of Texas Hold ‘em. You select 1 of 5 pocket pairs to the flop, and then watch as the turn and river unfold. This game is not yet available for real money bets, but was developed for fun play by video poker and Texas Hold em enthusiasts. We’ll keep you updated when this interesting game becomes a true option in casinos.
